Your Resume Matters

Any job application begins with your resume, so your resume needs to work for you. Tired of throwing your resume into the void with no luck? Check out some of the resumes I’ve done below and why they will perform better than your average resume. Each industry categories and individual call for different techniques, styles, color choices, and formatting.

Resume - Writing & Creative Industries

For creative, writer, or marketing professional, I opt for more playful colors and less traditional styling choices - but stick to the main format that works best. Headshots do well in this industry to create a warmer, more personable feel. For Henley, I chose a color that was congruent with her headshot as a nod to design and creative ability. Keywords included in the Skills section and throughout the work experience.

Technical, Corporate, or Science Industries

In tech, corporate, science, or engineering-ike industries, staying more traitional will go farther than colors and atristic style choices. On this resume, I utilized greyscale to highlight Alain’s experience without distractions and a traditional font.

Miscellaneous Industries

For most industries, I will go with a simple, vertical collumbed format that passes ATS inspection, a traditional font, and place the most important information to the top left. For Emily, this was her Education and Work Experience. Using muted colors takes any strain off the eyes and provides for an easeir read. Keywords for each industry are researched and embedded into the Skills and Work Experience Sections
