Why Hire A Freelancer Instead of an On-Staff Copywriter? Here Are The Top 5 Reasons to Do So.

You own a business, a company, or a brand, and you may be wondering - why should I hire a freelancer over an on-staff copywriter, or just do it all myself? Now obviously - I’m biased (you should hire me ;)) But, there are some great benefits to consider when thinking about why hiring a freelancer might be a better option than having a copywriter on staff - or hiring a freelancer for specific projects in addition to an on-staff copywriter.

  1. Cost Benefit

Full time employees cost a loooooooot of money. We’re talking salary/hourly pay, benefits, training costs, etc. With a freelancer, all you have to pay them for is their time and services. Thats it. Done and dusted! Unless, of course, you work with one on retainer. Even then, youre still only paying for a certian amount of hours per week or project.

  2. Flexible Schedules

Freelancers have their own schedule, so they are often able to accommodate yours. You are not constrained to normal business hours, navigataing lunch breaks and other meetings for on site staff, etc. You can hold meetings whenever suits you.

  3. Specialized Skill & High Quality Work

Even if you have an on-staff copywriter, there may be projects that they don’t have the correct expertise in to complete. Hiring a freelancer allows you to hire a copywriter specifically tailored to the project you are needing one for and nothing more. They produce consistent high-quality work, because if they dont, they dont retain clients or pay their bills. So, we as freelancers are VERY incentivized to procuce the highest quality work all the time.

  4. No Long-Term Commitment!

It’s 2023 - the age of commitmentphobia. Fear not, because with us freelancers, you can commit to as little or as much time as you want to hire us. We can do one project for you, or 16. You get to decide based on your company’s needs and budget what’s best.

  5. Faster Deliverables

One thing people might not think about is the fact that a freelancer will be able to give you faster deliverables. Unlike an on-site copywriter, who might have multiple projects ongoing at the same time, a freelancer usually sets up their schedules to make it so that they arent working on an overwhelming number of projects at once. They may have it so that yours is the only one that week they work on, or 1 of 3 instead of 6 or 7 for an on-site worker. This means you get quality work, faster.

I could spend all day rambling on about why hiring a freelance copywriter instead of retaining your own on-staff worker in many instances could be the best move for your business. But, as we all know, none of us have that kind of time. But, if those top 5 reasons didn’t already convince you, shoot me a message and we can chat about how a freelancer like myself might be a good fit for you.

Cheers!
